Dr. Dean C. Powers is a Vocational Expert practicing throughout British Columbia and Alberta in Canada as well as in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Over the past 30 years, he has acted in the capacity of placement counsellor for persons with disabilities, as a consultant within the rehabilitation and health fields conducting assessments on individual productivity, employability and job suitability, and in vocational matters pertaining to persons suffering from both acquired and traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorders and complicated orthopaedic injuries.
Dr. Powers regularly provides services to Crown organizations such as ICBC, Workers Compensation Boards in British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Manitoba, and Ontario, as well as various government ministries, insurance providers and law firms. Dr. Powers has been accepted as an expert witness in the Supreme Courts of British Columbia in Canada and the Yukon and Washington State in the United States.
Dr. Powers holds a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from Southern California University for Professional Studies, Santa Ana, California, and a Masters degree (MA) from Simon Fraser University. He holds a Masters Certificate for Vocational Specialists with the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals.
Dr. Powers has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) since September 1991 and a Registered Rehabilitation Practitioner (RRP) since June 1987. He is past president of the British Columbia chapter of the Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (1998 – 2001) (now VRA Canada) and has been a member since 1986. Dr. Powers is a Diplomate with the American Board of Vocational Experts and a member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators. Dr. Powers is also a member of the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Canada (RCAC) and a member of the Board of Directors.
