I am a registered Occupational Therapist having graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia in 2012. I am certified by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and registered to practice through the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). I also completed a Bachelor of Arts from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University in 2010.
Throughout my graduate training, I have completed clinical internships in Inpatient Subacute Medicine, Acute Mental Health, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Neurological Rehabilitation.
From 2012 to 2015, I worked in Occupational Rehabilitation specifically with WorkSafe BC funded rehabilitation programs for injured workers. Injuries varied from soft-tissue injuries to more severe injuries including, but not limited to, fractures, surgical repairs, and neurological/concussion issues. In addition to physical injuries there was often a significant underlying psychosocial component to the rehabilitation process. In this position I was responsible for conducting client interviews and functional assessments for intake and discharge planning, liaising with WorkSafe BC case managers and employers, working with an interdisciplinary treatment team, writing reports, teaching client education classes, performing job site analyses, developing work simulation exercise programs, creating and monitoring graduated return to work programs, and performing ergonomic assessments.
I have consulted and worked in combination with various health care professionals such as, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Physicians, General Practitioners, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Counsellors, Psychologists, Neuropsychologists, Hand Therapists, and Cognitive Therapists, to facilitate appropriate rehabilitation for individuals with various physical, psychosocial and neurological challenges.
I have been employed with Harbourview Rehabilitation since September 2015. I am a Certified Work/Functional Capacity Evaluator through Roy Matheson and Associates as well as a Certified EPIC Lifting Capacity Evaluator with the Employment Potential Improvement Corporation. I am currently providing Physical Capacity Evaluations and Occupational Therapy Case Management Services performing needs assessments and functional assessments, providing recommendations for care, facilitating client rehabilitation and assisting with implementing care recommendations.
